Conservation of Energy

This is the fifth of eight pre-class exercises, using DIYModeling, used in the first semester physics course at the United States Air Force Academy. Students analyze simulated scenarios and answer questions before coming to the lab class. In class they discuss their pre-class work and proceed to the hands-on real world version of the experiment. 

In this scenario, a mass is launched up a frictionless ramp by a compressed spring. By changing the parameters students examine the relations between elastic and gravitational potential energies and the kinetic energy of the moving mass.
